Egg Harbor Township

The Heart of Atlantic County | An Innovative Business Community with Rural Charm

Mayor: Laura Pfrommer

Township Administrator: Donna L. Markulic | (P) 609.926.4027 (E) [email protected]

Egg Harbor Township is the heart of Atlantic County! The Township is layered between the back bay communities of Absecon, Somers Point, Pleasantville, Linwood and Northfield, and the island communities of Atlantic City, Margate, Longport, Brigantine and Ventnor. The back bay and island towns were split off from Egg Harbor Township over the last 150 years.  As a result, access to the back bay and island towns often run through Egg Harbor Township.

Partially due to the geographic breath of  Egg Harbor Township and the historical spinning off of municipalities, the Township has several centers of economic activity but no dominant city center. Instead, there are many well established unincorporated communities throughout Egg Harbor Township, including Bargaintown, Cardiff, English Creek, Farmington, McKee City, Scullville, Steelmanville, and West Atlantic City.

Due to Egg Harbor Township’s close connection and relationship to the back bay and island communities, the Township has grown and continues to grow in population, labor force and employment. Township population from the 2020 census is 47,842, a 10% increase from 2010. From a population perspective, Egg Harbor Township is home to 18% of the county population and provides 17% of the labor force and employees to county-wide businesses and government. Egg Harbor Township is Atlantic County’s largest municipality measured by population, labor force and employees who live in the municipality.
